Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy and top up a T-Money card?
Buy a T-Money card at any convenience store (GS25, CU, 7-Eleven, Emart24) or at vending machines inside subway stations. The card costs around 2,500 KRW. Top it up at convenience store counters or subway station recharge machines. You can check your balance and get a refund at convenience store registers.
Is there a transfer discount between subway and bus?
Yes. When using a T-Money card or a credit card with transport function, free transfers between subway and bus apply within 30 minutes (60 minutes at night). Paying with cash or single-use tickets does not qualify. You can transfer up to 2 times with only distance-based surcharges applied beyond the base fare.
Can I use the Kakao T app in English?
Yes. The Kakao T app supports an English interface — change the language in app settings. You can register a foreign credit card (Visa, Mastercard) for payment. Note that Uber in Korea operates through a partnership with Kakao T, so you will effectively get the same service either way. Kakao T covers regular taxis, black taxis, and large vans.
